August 2003 It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to one of our bioengineering family member Professor Werner Goldsmith. Goldsmith, Professor of the Graduate School-Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Professor of the Graduate School-Department of Bioengineering and recently Professor Emeritus Appointment in Bioengineering died Saturday, August 23, 2003 of complications from leukemia.

April 2003 Last week, Guidant Corporation, a leader in the design and development of cardiovascular medical products, presented the Berkeley Bioengineering Department with a $70,000 check to support the Guidant Summer Research Program.
March 2003 The Department of Bioengineering congratulates Nathaniel Huebsch for being selected as this years Departmental Citation Award Winner. Nathaniel was nominated by Prof. Kevin Healy to receive this award.
