Applications for 2009 are closed. Please check back in February 2010 for 2010 applications.
How to Apply
- Be sure that you meet the requirements below
- Check the calendar - make sure you are available for the mandatory dates
- Review the faculty projects
- Select which projects you would like to apply for. We suggest applying for more than one to maximize your chances of being selected.
- Obtain an unofficial transcript (try using BearFacts, see the FAQ))
- Write your resume and cover letter (see the FAQ for tips)
- Complete the application form below by March 17
- Make sure you receive a email confirmation of your application
- Wait to hear the results, the last week of April

Requirements
Please make sure you meet the following are eligibility requirements before applying to the Berkeley Summer Bioengineering Research Program:
- Must be a UC Berkeley undergrad
- Do not have to be a bioengineering major
- Students are expected to have appropriate academic background to participate in bioengineering research - faculty will decide if qualifications are met for each project
- Continuing laboratory experience is a plus
- All students must submit an application on time
- Cover letter and resume should be included
- Students are expected to commit to at least 30 hours per week, scheduled by their mentor
- Must be available for the 10 weeks, approximately June 1 to August 7, as arranged with faculty mentor
- Must be available for mandatory events as described on the calendar
