Faculty Application

About the program:
The goal of the Berkeley Summer Bioengineering Research Program is to facilitate intensive, faculty-led research experiences in bioengineering for undergraduates at UC Berkeley. The 2008 BSBRP program will be primarily a matchmaking and administrative program, finding outstanding students to work full-time in your lab this summer.

How it works

  • Faculty fill out the form below to submit:
    • Description of your research or a specific project
    • Description of desired student qualifications
    • The maximum number of applications you want
    • Guidance to help staff narrow down the list of applicants
  • Students apply to a maximum of 3 faculty, applications due March 18
  • Staff can narrow down list of applicants and pass final applications to faculty for student selection
  • Faculty select top three choices for summer student
  • MUST select students who have submitted applications through the Program
  • Staff notify students of selection, finalize program details
  • Students work in faculty labs June 2- August 8
  • Faculty may set individual start and end dates with students if desired, as long as paid work time is 10 weeks.
  • Faculty pay student stipends of $3,300, transferred to department for disbursal.
  • Students will be asked to prepare a poster for the Bioengineering Summer Student Research Symposium, a presentation of research results to faculty, students, and industry on August 8. Please plan to attend.
