Budinger elected to NAE Council
June 2006

Dr, BudingerDr. Tom Budinger, UC Berkeley Professor of Bioengineering and Electrical Engineering and UCSF Professor of Radiology, was elected to the Council of the National Academy of Engineering this June.

The National Academy of Engineering is a member of the National Academies, which includes the NAE, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), the Institute of Medicine (IOM), and the National Research Council (NRC). In addition to its role as advisor to the federal government, the NAE also conducts independent studies to examine important topics in engineering and technology. The Council is the governing body of the NAE, and consists of 6 officers and 12 councillors elected by the NAE membership. Councillors serve a 3 year term.

In addition to his professorships, Dr. Budinger is also head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine & Functional Imaging at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and was the Founding Chair of the Department of Bioengineering at Berkeley.
