Arkin and Keasling new AAM Fellows

Adam Arkin May 2007 Bioengineering Professors Adam Arkin and Jay Keasling have been elected Fellows of the American Academy of Microbiology. The mission of the American Academy of Microbiology is to recognize scientists for outstanding contributions to microbiology and provide microbiological expertise in the service of science and the public. The AAM is the honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology, and is the only group of its kind devoted entirely to microbiologists and the science of microbiology. Jay Keasling Members of the AAM are elected through a highly selective, peer-reviewed process, based on their records of scientific achievement and original contributions that have advanced microbiology. Only fifty-four new Fellows were elected in 2007, and Arkin and Keasling were the only two selected from UC Berkeley.
