Discretionary funding from the Department of Bioengineering made it possible for undergraduate Sarah to attend the national Society of Women Engineers (SWE) conference in Austin, Texas.
“I spent four days networking with and learning from over 10,000 other women engineers. Throughout the week, I attended technical workshops, professional development sessions, and was continually inspired by those around me. The SWE conference provided one of the most valuable experiences (and best memories) of my Berkeley career.”
Attending research conferences is excellent experience for students, but money to pay for travel and lodging is hard to come by. The department is able to fund conference travel for only a few students each year.
