Many bioengineering undergraduates gain hands-on research experience while at Berkeley. There are many opportunities for bioengineering undergraduates to become involved in real-world research. One of the best is our own Berkeley Summer Bioengineering Research Program, which places Berkeley undergraduates in faculty laboratories for a 10-week, paid summer program. Applications are usually due in March. Another exciting program is the QB3 Undergraduate Research Biotech Internship Program. This program places Berkeley undergrads in local biotech companies for full-time summer internships, and is sponsored by the California Institute for Quantitative Biomedical Research. There are also ways to work part-time with faculty mentors during the school year. The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program is sponsored by the College of Engineering, while the Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program is campus-wide. Other research opportunities can be found on the Undergraduate Research at Berkeley website. |
