Heart Summer Research Program WPI

The WPI Biomedical Engineering Department in collaboration with The American Heart Association (AHA) offer a Summer Research Program to provide research experience and mentoring. Cardiovascular Research, Development, and Interdisciplinary Opportunities for Undergraduates at WPI (CARDIO4U) at WPI supports individuals interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics & Medicine (STEMM) fields or careers.

Juniors (rising seniors) are eligible. The summer program will last 10 weeks; May 25, 2026 – July 31, 2026.

CARDIO4U Benefits include:

  • $6,000 stipend
  • Travel expenses (primarily air travel)
  • Professional development (scientific communication, responsible conduct of research and rigor, ethics, poster presentation, mentoring, how to apply to grad school, etc.)
  • Opportunity to attend AHA Scientific Sessions – All expenses paid
  • Networking and other resources
  • Meet with patients to understand clinical problems
  • NOT provided: Room and Board
