Job Purpose: To assist in the design, development and manufacture of novel medical devices through concept design, engineering analysis, implant characterization, benchtop and wet lab testing, and specification development. Location: Biorez is located in New Haven, CT in a private office and lab suite at the brand-new technology hub, The District. This is an in-person internship. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Design experiments, write and execute protocols, and submit technical reports • Develop test methods, procedures and fixtures for R&D and support the production of clinical implants • Assist in clinical and pre-clinical research and support future publications • Work on R&D pipeline projects including the design and manufacture of new prototypes • Collaborate with engineers to support all other project related activities Required Qualifications: • Recently completed or pursuing MS or PhD degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical, or other), or MD • Dynamic self-starter with demonstrated passion for regenerative medicine and/or entrepreneurship • Excellent technical writing skills and ability to prepare, execute and draw conclusions from an experiment • Experience in clinical research and drafting peer-reviewed publications Desired Qualifications: • Knowledge of chemistry, biomaterials, biomechanics, tissue engineering, and/or textile engineering • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and clinical applications • Knowledge of medical device design, development or manufacture including quality management systems • Experience writing and submitting grants
Summer Internship at Biorez, R&D Engineer Intern
We are looking for high-potential undergraduate and graduate student candidates for an R&D internship program this summer of 2021. Candidates may be considered for full time positions after completion of the program. Two interns have been hired on to full-time positions over the last two summers. Biorez is a fast-paced medical device start-up focused on commercializing revolutionary medical devices. We have developed the BioBrace™ scaffold, a new implant technology designed to reinforce tendon and ligament repairs and accelerate the healing process.
