VCU BME REUs: Mechanobiology and Magnetics

Virginia Commonwealth’s Department of Biomedical Engineering invites rising sophomores, juniors or seniors to apply to  articipate in two REU programs, Mechanobiology and Magnetics. We seek students who are interested in research (prior experience not required) and welcome applicants from all STEM majors, with preference to Biomedical Engineering majors.

Students chosen for the program will spend 10 weeks over the summer at VCU conducting hands-on, innovative experimental and computational approaches in mechanobiology or magnetics research under the guidance and mentorship of a VCU faculty member. Further, students will have the opportunity to participate in STEM outreach for K-12 students or teachers in the Richmond area. Our programs are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our community and STEM fields. Women and other historically underrepresented groups in STEM disciples are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in STEM-related disciplines and curiosity about research.
Competitive stipends and on campus housing are included. Eligibility: US citizens and permanent residents

Application deadlines: Feb 10 – Mechanobiology, March 31 – Magnetics
