The Design Loft is critical lab space for both the Capstone Design class and the BioE 101 Instrumentation for Biology and Medicine course. The purchase of new power supplies, oscilloscopes, Arduino systems, and sophisticated bio-sensors for EEG, ECG and photoplethysmographs will allow students to gain experience on the devices currently in use in the real world.
“Without the Design Loft, students would only learn the theory of design, without the essential and frustrating experience of real-world debugging,” said Professor Steve Conolly. “These skills are essential for getting jobs in industry and for excelling in graduate school or medical schools.
The Design Loft in Hearst Memorial Mining Building is due for an update, which can only be accomplished with donated funds.
