BioE undergraduate alumnus Amit Jain was named a Paul and Daisy Soros Fellow for 2010.
The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is a presigious honor recognizing the contributions and promise of young people who are recent additions to the ranks of Americans. The two-year awards provide cash grants of up to $50,000 and tuition support of up to $40,000. Thirty Fellows were chosen in 2010 from nearly 900 applicants.
Jain, a third-year MD student at Johns Hopkins University, graduated magna cum laude from Berkeley Bioengineering in 2008. As an undergraduate he worked in the laboratory of Assistant Professor Sanjay Kumar and participated in the Berkeley Summer Bioengineering Research Program, among other honors.
