Career Resources
It's time to plan your future!
There are so many things you can do with a degree in bioengineering, sometimes it's hard to know where to start.
UC Berkeley Career Engagement Services offers a wealth of assistance, from exploring career options to one-on-one counseling to landing the job. We strongly recommend that students take advantage of their many services throughout their time at Berkeley.
Career Engagement Services is also the campus hub for medical school preparation, and offers guidance and assistance with graduate school applications.
The College of Engineering also offers career and graduate school events throughout the year. Some of our favorites are:
- Professional Headshots
- Graduate Admissions Workshop
- LinkedIn and Interviewing Workshop
- Deal or No Deal Negotiation Workshop
- Elevator Pitch & Resume Clinic
Watch your student email announcements for the latest dates for these events.
The Department of Bioengineering offers some supplemental events to add BioE-specific insight to the campus and college offerings.
- Bio-Tech Connect
Annually in the first week of March biotech companies large and small join us in Stanley Hall to talk with students about their companies, current and future job openings, and what they look for in candidates. Many representatives are our own alumni, ready to offer advice to current students. - Panels and workshops with current Bioengineering PhD students to talk about applying to graduate school, offered in partnership with student groups.
- Online group chats with program alumni for advice and Q&A.
Internships and Co-Ops
We highly recommend internships - institutional and industry - and job shadowing! In addition to Campus Career Engagement and other listings, BioE student should watch their BioE Announcements for opportunities.
Students in good academic standing are allowed to take a semester of leave from school to participate in a ~6 month Spring-Summer or Summer-Fall internship (a Co-Op). It is possible to guarantee readmission, delay graduation for one semester, and assure your degree requirements do not change while you are away. Always talk to your academic adviser first!
