May 9, 2013 –
Ritankar Das, double major in bioengineering and chemical biology, has been named the 2013 winner of the University Medal.
Das, an 18-year-old graduating senior who is completing his double degree after just 3 years here, is the first ever bioengineer to win the top campus honor, and the youngest University Medalist in at least a century.
Established in 1871, the University Medal is awarded each year to an exemplary graduating student with a minimum GPA of 3.96. Das will receive the medal and give a speech at Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 18.
