Jay Keasling, Professor of Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering and
Director of the Physical Biosciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley Labs was mentioned in the Discover Magazine article The Six Most Important Experiments in the World. Jay was noted for his research on adding handfuls of genes to e. coli and other microbes to make a variety of valuable products, including medicines and jet fuel. Jay has become world-renowned as an expert in synthetic biology and artificial life.
