Assistant Professors of Bioengineering Sanjay Kumar, Seung-Wuk Lee and Mohammad Mofrad have been granted 2008 awards from the Hellman Family Faculty Fund. Created by a generous gift from distinguished alumnus F. Warren Hellman, the Hellman Family Faculty Fund awards research grants to junior faculty who have shown a promise of great distinction.
Lee was recognized for his work developing of novel drug delivery vehicles using genetically engineered viruses. Kumar’s winning research project is “Engineering molecular and cellular function through unstructured protein domains”. Dr. Mofrad was recognized for his project, “Multiscale Models of the Bicuspid Aortic Valve: Linking Whole Organs to Cells.”
All three faculty will receive recognition and significant funding to advance their research.
