We are seeking a passionate engineering student for a Summer 2025 Internship to collaborate with our onsite team in Oakland, CA.
Position Description
In this role, you will support the final stages of development of our flagship hardware product—a
battery-powered, portable device to treat cervical precancer in any clinic worldwide. You will fabricate
devices, design and build fixtures, conduct benchtop testing on preclinical models, and maintain records of your work. You will be exposed to various product development processes, including quality / regulatory systems, manufacturing, and IP, and you will discover how clinical feedback is translated into design decisions and processes. This is an exciting hands-on opportunity to support the journey of a medical device from design to manufacturing and testing.
Primary Responsibilities
● Support mechanical builds and electronic assemblies of production-level devices
● Conduct testing following existing protocols and support development of new procedures
● Design and build mechanical fixtures to optimize fabrication and testing
● Assist drafting of manufacturing procedures and verification & validation (V&V) protocols
● Follow Good Documentation Practices for recording notes, materials, drawings, tests, and results
Preferred Skills
● Currently pursuing Bachelor’s (minimum junior standing) or Master’s degree
● Biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar
● Experience in mechanical design, fabrication, machining, fixturing, and/or soldering
● Experience in benchtop testing, troubleshooting, data analysis, and report writing
● Attention to detail at every step and respect for safety and quality processes
● Active communication and engaged participation
● Most importantly, a willingness to learn and a passion for expanding access to care
