Alumna Bhatti named Associate Chair at Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Bioengineering Alumna (BS 1989) Pamela Bhatti has been appointed as the new Associate Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Bhatti will lead the School’s support of faculty members’ entrepreneurial activities. She will also manage the programs associated with ECE’s large number of corporate partners and affiliates, and support the partnership with the School’s Advisory Board.
BioE alumnus in 30 Under 30
2014 BioE MEng alum Po-Jui (Ray) Chiu has been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30! Po-Jui worked with Professor Seung-Wuk Lee to develop accurate, cheap, bio-based sensor platforms for detecting airborne chemicals. He went on to found promising startup BioInspira, creating low-cost bio-inspired chemical sensors.

Two BioE labs have been recognized with 2018 Excellence in Lab Safety awards from the campus Office of Environment, Health & Safety. Professor Amy Herr’s lab received the award for a Large Life Sciences lab, and Professor Phil Messersmith’s for a Large Physical Sciences lab.
