November 2004 Bioengineering professor Kevin Healy participated in a press conference Monday announcing UC Berkeley Chancellor Robert J. Birgeneau’s appointment to the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee. The committee is charged with overseeing the implementation of California’s new $3 billion stem cell research effort.

August 2003 It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to one of our bioengineering family member Professor Werner Goldsmith. Goldsmith, Professor of the Graduate School-Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Professor of the Graduate School-Department of Bioengineering and recently Professor Emeritus Appointment in Bioengineering died Saturday, August 23, 2003 of complications from leukemia.
